After spending the afternoon studying several different weather websites and looking up at the clouds for a sense of what the weather might do, a last minute decision was made to jump into the van a head towards the colonial named Mt Warning. After pulling over on a random dirt road and assembling the back packs full of camera gear, a 'scramble' up the side of a mountain began until the right spot was found. As the atmosphere was beginning to feel thick with moisture and the light was rapidly changing, the tripods and cameras were quickly set up and pointed towards the sacred mountain.

The light show began immediately... and for the next small period of time, many images were created as the small but violent cell passed over Woolumbin and headed straight towards the cameras . As the storm cleared the mountain, it left in its trail an amazing, glowing sunset beaming through the moisture laden atmosphere.

This image was captured in a single frame and the cameras and tripods immediately packed up as the black storm front beard down on the patchy hillside. A quick scramble down the slippery hillside began and just before the van was reached. Large singular rain drops began exploding all around on the dirt road. The van and all camera equipment made it off the steep and dangerously slippery dirt road safely as the downpour intensified...

Watch it unfold below.

Canvas: Our 400 gsm, Poly-Cotton, bright white canvas is of the highest quality and guaranteed to meet archival standards. Made with a matt inkjet coating, this canvas meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness. We use Epson ultrachrome inks, then coat the canvas with a laminate to protect it from UV fading and dust build up. Each canvas print is then expertly hand stretched on custom cut Australian pine stretcher bar and finished off with plastic coated wire for hanging. Each canvas has a lifetime of 100 years without fading. If you would like to discuss custom sizing, splitting canvases into panels or any other custom design ideas, please contact info@elliotkirkwoodphotography.com

Acrylic Panels: Our acrylic print starts with a Fine Art Metallic Pearl Paper Print. It is then expertly facemounted
on a high grade polished sheet of 4.5mm thick acrylic and finished off with a Dibond aluminium composite panel on the back so your print is safely secured in between. Your acrylic print will come with a wooden frame on the back to achieve the floating effect and hanging wire to mount to your wall.
